You might sense an air of suppressed excitement here at Crown Studio Gallery at the moment. You could even detect a certain level of distraction from Lynda...
The reason???? Very simple- she is working incredibly hard to complete her finest ever cycle of "family history" paintings for a special exhibition.
From September 1st till September 20th Lynda is having an exhibition entitled "Family Matters" at the Tom McGuinness Gallery in Bishop Auckland. This is a very prestigious venue, as it has been host to exhibitions by some of the country's best loved "Pitman Painters", including Norman Cornish MBE and the eponymous Tom McGuinness.
It's a particularly appropriate place for Lynda to be exhibiting her works, as she was born in Bishop Auckland and generations of her immediate family were lime, explosives and sand merchants in nearby Ferryhill Station. Her vibrant, still life paintings are an exploration of the relationship between the industrial history of the region and personal family history. In addition, her darkly humorous pen and ink drawings, based on family photos, take a wry look at family life and growing up in The North East during the 1950s and 60s.
If you can't make these dates, do remember that we will continue to have a good selection of Lynda's landscape paintings and limited edition prints here at Crown Studio- plus work by other invited craftsmen and a brilliant selection of art cards for all occasions!
